One of the highlights of 2024 was the launch of our fabric collection for GP & J Baker. It has been a true joy to see the collection come to life, both in the studio and in real-world spaces. At our Design Studio, we are passionate about telling stories through interiors and fabrics play a key role in transforming any room. This week, we’re thrilled to spotlight one of our favourite fabrics from the collection—Worlds Apart, a fabric that truly brings a narrative to life.
This versatile, hard-wearing woven fabric is as vibrant as its name suggests, inviting us on a visual journey. Available in six easy-to-use colourways — Green & Coral, Fuchsia & Ochre, Indigo, Plum, Green and Aqua & Ochre — Worlds Apart is a wonderful addition to any interior. Below, we share how we’ve used it in our spaces and how you too can incorporate this extraordinary fabric into your designs.
In The Richmond Suite at The Soho Hotel, the Fuchsia & Ochre colourway shines in the drawing room, where it has been used on both the sofas and cushions. This striking colour combination has a fresh, yet vibrant feel, with the vivid pink tones adding a bold punch, while the warmer ochre hues tie back to the wall colours, bringing a harmonious balance. The intricate stripe and pattern lend sophistication, creating an inviting yet dynamic atmosphere.
Upon closer inspection, the fabric reveals a tapestry of detail, rich in history and bold imagination. With its timeless motifs and modern flair, Worlds Apart offers a sense of escapism, evoking faraway lands and distant cultures, infusing the space with a spirit of global wanderlust.
Below, it has been upholstered on the end-of-bed footstool in the bedroom, helping to create a seamless flow throughout the suite. This is a perfect example of how beautifully this fabric can elevate even smaller pieces of furniture.
In one of our Ham Yard Hotel residences, we used the Green & Coral colourway on a classic Chesterfield sofa. The alternating green and coral threads enhance the iconic deep button tufting, adding subtle depth and texture, giving this traditional piece a whimsical yet sophisticated twist.
We love how David McNulty Upholstery and Eves & Samuel have also integrated this fabric into smaller accents, such as antique stools, offering a vibrant pop of colour without overwhelming the space. These pieces beautifully embody our appreciation for traditional craftsmanship, blending timeless elements with contemporary touches in a way that feels both nostalgic and modern.
We hope this glimpse into how we’ve used Worlds Apart inspires you to explore its possibilities. It’s a fabric that brings a story to life and offers endless ways to elevate your space, no matter the scale.
