Introducing Bunty, a standout fabric from our collection designed for GP & J Baker, launched earlier this year. This beautifully crafted striped weave is the epitome of texture, versatility and timeless design, making it a designer’s dream. With its unexpected yet contemporary colourways and a mix of playful embroidery, Bunty adds both character and warmth to any interior.
The story of Bunty begins with Nanny Susan’s miniature donkey, whose rich coat of browns and nutmeg tones inspired both the fabric’s name and its stunning palette. The brown colourway, in particular, reflects these natural, earthy hues and comes to life in a textured striped weave. It’s the perfect blend of playful energy and classic style. This robust fabric is incredibly durable, making it ideal for upholstery—especially for pieces like ottomans, as seen on the Celia ottoman in Apartment 21 at Ham Yard Hotel, where it brings a vintage character to the space, making it feel as though it’s been there all along.
Bunty’s alternating wide and narrow stripes, highlighted by bold colour stitching, give it a vibrant, modern flair. The Indigo colourway, used in the same apartment’s bedroom on a Stuart tub chair and an end-of-bed stool, adds a lively pop against the more serene backdrop, infusing the space with subtle energy. In the Lee Jofa showroom we also used the Indigo colourway of the sofa at the end of the bed.
Our design team is particularly fond of Bunty for dining chairs, where its bold, yet simple design and durable weave make it both practical and stylish. In the earthy Orange colourway, it was used on dining chairs in Suite 1107 at Crosby Street Hotel. Here, Bunty shines, adding texture, depth and character to high-use furniture. It strikes the perfect balance between playful sophistication and practicality, making it ideal for spaces that need a little extra personality.
We also used the same colourway on the Susan chairs in The Orangery at the Crosby Street Hotel.
In the Library at Knightsbridge Hotel, Bunty’s red colourway transforms sofas into cosy retreats, perfect for a rainy autumn day. The warm, fiery tones beautifully complement the library’s red walling and crackling fireplace, creating an inviting and intimate atmosphere—perfect for a space that sees plenty of use.
We featured Bunty’s fresh blue-green colourway on an armchair at our Schotten & Hansen pop-up at Clerkenwell Design Week, where the vibrant stripes beautifully complement the warm wood paneling.
We hope you’ve enjoyed taking a closer look at our Bunty fabric.
