Fabric Focus: One Way and Small Way

Day to Day

Take a closer look at our One Way and Small Way fabrics, and discover how beautifully they complement each other...

In today’s blog, we’re excited to spotlight two standout fabrics from our Christopher Farr collection: Small Way and One Way.

Small Way features a small-scale geometric design that beautifully balances structure and order with an organic, fluid feel. This fabric is perfect for infusing energy and character into any room. A closer look reveals a rich interplay of shapes and lines, where subtle, rhythmic forms add visual texture and intrigue without overwhelming the space. It’s an excellent choice for accents – whether on cushions, a statement piece of furniture, or curtains.

One Way, on the other hand, offers a larger-scale version of the design, ideal for those seeking a more spacious and modern aesthetic. Together, these fabrics create a versatile palette capable of transforming any interior.

At Suite 802 in Warren Street Hotel, the Hot Pink colourway of Small Way has been used for the sofa cushions in the drawing room, instantly brightening the space with its vibrant yet airy feel.

In The Crosby Bar in New York, One Way adorns the walls, creating a striking backdrop that pairs wonderfully with the striped banquette seating.

When these two fabrics are used together, the contrast in scale creates a dynamic visual balance. The synergy between these two fabrics shines at Number Sixteen Hotel, where we’ve combined them with One Way as the primary curtain fabric and Small Way along the leading edge. The contrasting scales introduce subtle movement and a timeless elegance to the space.

In one of the Residences at Ham Yard Hotel, the fresh, spring-inspired colourway of One Way is used for curtains, while Small Way graces the leading edge, allowing natural light to filter softly through the fabric and enhance the room’s airy atmosphere. To tie the scheme together, Small Way is also featured on the sofa cushions.

In a residential project, we used One Way for the curtains while incorporating Small Way in the same colourway as a small accent cushion on the sofa. This combination provides a lovely balance to the larger-scale designs in the room, enhancing the overall harmony and creating a cohesive look.

The combination of blue and red is always a winning choice for tailored, sophisticated interiors. Suite 1002 at Warren Street Hotel showcases how Small Way adds vibrant pops of colour throughout, while still creating a calm atmosphere. Using the same fabric in both the bedroom and drawing room adds a seamless flow to the space, highlighting the versatility of this small-scale fabric across different items, from bed cushions to an accent chair.

We’re also excited to announce that there will be new colourways in our Small Way and One Way fabrics soon. These fresh hues complement each other beautifully, and we can’t wait to incorporate them into our upcoming designs!
