We are thrilled to announce that our Kit Kemp x GP & J Baker collection has been awarded the ‘Spectacular Coordinated Collection’ award at this year’s Homes & Gardens Design Awards. Join us on today’s blog, as we shine a spotlight on two of our favourite patterns from the collection: ‘Wriggle Room’ and ‘Tweak’. Renowned for their versatility and timeless charm, these patterns are available as both wallpaper and fabric, offering endless possibilities for effortless coordination. Whether used individually or together, they create a seamless, stylish flow throughout any interior.
Wriggle Room is a playful, small-scale geometric pattern with a fresh take on traditional stripes. At first glance, it appears to be a simple vertical stripe, but upon closer inspection, you’ll notice painterly horizontal lines that create depth and movement. This intricate detailing makes it a versatile choice, perfect for adding texture through upholstery, wallpaper, or soft furnishings. Its balance of subtlety and boldness allows it to harmonise beautifully with larger-scale designs, adding fluidity to any space. The colourways for Wriggle Room are a joyful exploration of hues, from the warmth of ‘Ochre and Spice’ to the dynamic contrasts of ‘Green/Pink’ and ‘Blue/Yellow.’ Whether you’re looking for a bold statement or a warm accent, there’s a shade for every design scheme.
For those seeking a more understated look, Tweak offers a refined, single-colour take on Wriggle Room. With its subtle geometric pattern, Tweak serves as the perfect backdrop, pairing effortlessly with bolder prints or standing alone for a minimalist aesthetic. Like Wriggle Room, it is available as both wallpaper and fabric in an array of modern colourways, making it incredibly versatile.
One of the key reasons these two patterns have become so popular is their adaptability. In Apartment 21 at Ham Yard Hotel, we used Wriggle Room on the corridor walls. Its small-scale design provided the perfect counterbalance to the bold colours and patterns in the adjoining drawing room, seamlessly tying the spaces together.
In a room at Number Sixteen, we used Tweak in Teal as a wall fabric. Its subtle geometry created a calm yet textured backdrop, perfectly complementing the floral crewel embroidery on the headboard, adding depth without overwhelming the room. The fabric was also used for curtains, where its vertical stripe effect cleverly enhanced the illusion of height, especially in rooms with lower ceilings.
In one of the suites at The Soho Hotel, we used Wriggle Room as a trim for the neutral linen curtains. The playful pattern framed the view beautifully and added a touch of vibrancy against the serene backdrop of the Songbird Mural wallpaper, all while subtly enhancing the room’s visual height. Both Wriggle Room and Tweak are ideal for smaller accents as well.
We love incorporating them into lampshades to bring a touch of playfulness, while ensuring the patterns harmonise with other elements in the space.
We can’t wait to see how you incorporate Wriggle Room and Tweak into your own designs – make sure you share your creations with us on Instagram @kitkempdesignthread.
