We are delighted to announce the launch of our latest design, the PIT-A-PAT Munich Table, in collaboration with Schotten & Hansen, as part of the celebration of their 40th anniversary in 2024. The PIT-A-PAT table series showcases Schotten & Hansen’s innovative magnetic technique and offers three stunning designs—‘London’, ‘New York’, and now ‘Munich’. The table is designed to evolve with your space, transforming like living art. With its wooden veneer pieces nestled within an elegant bronze frame, the table allows the magnetic patterns to be easily swapped, offering a dynamic, ever-changing piece that is as timeless as it is playful.
The concept for the PIT-A-PAT table was sparked during Minnie’s visit to Schotten & Hansen’s headquarters, nestled in a modern workshop amidst the dense forests of Peiting, Germany. Enchanted by the surrounding woods, Minnie was inspired to sketch the interplay of light and shadows as they danced across the forest floor, capturing the essence of nature’s beauty in her design.
The table’s striking swirls and dynamic rhythms are a tribute to nature, colour, and creativity. Back in London, those sketches transformed into something playful and bold, influenced by the vivid colours of ‘Der Blaue Reiter’ (The Blue Rider group), Munich’s expressionist artists who believed in art’s wild, untamed spirit.
It has been an honour to work with Schotten & Hansen over the past 20 years as two family businesses pushing the boundaries of design together. As Minnie Kemp, Design Director of Kit Kemp Design Studio, reflects: “Incorporating wood into interiors goes beyond mere decoration; it creates an environment that echoes the calm and restorative qualities of the outdoors. Schotten & Hansen are wood craftsmen who truly understand this. It’s so inspiring to see them pushing the boundaries in their field, and to work alongside them, you feel like anything is possible. I’m thrilled to design the Munich table in celebration of 40 years since Torben Hansen founded his business.“
The Munich Table was launched in style with a special breakfast event on Wednesday, September 25th, in the Orangery at Crosby Street Hotel, where the table was beautifully dressed with fresh flowers and delicious breakfast treats.
