Embracing Summer with Fantastical Florals

Day to Day

As the warm rays of the summer sun light up our days, our minds turn towards the lively appeal of floral fabrics. They evoke a sense of freshness and bring the essence of blooming gardens inside. A true symbol of the cheerful spirit of the season, here are four new floral fabric designs we're loving at the moment!

Amherst – Jean Monro

It’s no secret that we love hand-blocked florals! The new ‘Amherst’ fabric by Jean Monro, first produced in 1918, combines traditional craftsmanship with modern vibrancy. Printed with around 120 block lays per meter, it comes in two colourways: ‘Famille Verte’ (below left), inspired by oriental porcelain, and ‘Plumage’ (below right), inspired by Lady Amherst’s pheasant. Named after Lady Amherst, this fabric reflects her extensive time spent exploring botanical gardens in India, where she documented over 3,000 varieties of plants, trees, and animals.

Isolotto – Designer’s Guild

Designer Guild’s fabrics never fail to pack a punch of colour! From their Ghirlanda collection, the ‘Isolotto’ fabric stands out with its scrolling floral forms, offering a modern take on a traditional damask. Inspired by the architectural plasterwork of the Italian Renaissance, its soft brushed painterly finish adds depth and movement. Isolotto is available in three strong colourways: Cobalt, Grass, and Birch.

Spin Off – GP & J Baker x Kit Kemp

‘Spin Off’ is a fabric full of florals from our recent collaborative collection with GP & J Baker. It reads like a sketchbook of drawings, with each line and embroidery stitch adding movement and whimsical charm. This versatile fabric can appear traditional, folkloric, or contemporary depending on its use, but it always exudes luxury with its rich linen backcloth and beautiful embellishment. Spin Off is available in two colourways: Red and Green (below left) and Plaster (below right).

Hana – Blithfield

‘Hana’ by Blithfield is one of our favourite new florals. Featuring a fresh, undulating vine pattern painted in a naive watercolour effect, its calm and elegant design is both versatile and timeless. Printed on soft linen, Hana adds elegance through gentle drapery, and its texture brings a touch of luxury. It’s available in three soft, easy-to-use colourways: Light Blue, Blue Green, and Dove.

We hope this blog has inspired you to get thinking about florals!
