Catching a ray of sunshine during the winter months in London feels a bit like finding a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. As the sun briefly peeks out, it swiftly tucks away again. Yet, on those days when the sunlight is radiant, the air is crisp and you’re cosy in layers, London on a sunny winter’s day seems to provide you with the warmth needed until spring turns it head. We have put together some of our favourite outdoor winter spaces for you to enjoy the glorious London sun.
Italian Gardens Café
Nestled on the north edge of Hyde Park, this year-round gem is a favourite among many. Overlooking the meticulously manicured lawns and fountains, this south-facing café opens its glass walls wide, inviting the sun in to warm the cafe.
Vinegar Yard
A popular spot for its eclectic mix of food, drink, art and the Flea market. This hotspot provides an inviting al fresco space for winter drinking and dining, ensuring warmth from it’s comprehensive canopy and outdoor heaters.
Petersham Nurseries
One of our favourite spots is Petersham Nurseries. Nestled in an oasis of flowers, plants and artisan garden tools, this sun-filled café offers an idyllic setting to reconnect with friends and enjoy a cup of coffee and a slice of home-made cake.
Ham Yard Hotel Roof Terrace
Our Roof Terrace at Ham Yard Hotel is the perfect place for guests to escape the central London hustle and bustle. Fully covered and heated, this enchanting venue is a perfect outdoor area, even in the cooler months. On sunny days, it becomes an ideal spot to savour sweeping views of the London skyline. For a chance to check it out yourself, our Winter Martini Garden is currently running on our Roof Terrace until the 24th February. Book your spot here.
Capturing a winter sunbeam in London might be a stroke of luck, but when the sun does make a fleeting appearance, we hope you can enjoy these delightful and unique alfresco winter spots.
