A fun and unique vase can add a personal touch to your scheme and can also be used as a stand out piece to complete your tablescapes. Join us as we show you some different types of vases and how we’ve used them in our interior designs.
Size & shape…
Explore, be brave and have fun! Accessories are a great way of giving character to your space. At Rossferry, we added a pair of scallop shaped vases which add a punch of colour and create a contrast against the lime coloured leaves and coral stone walls.
We also love this characterful terracotta vase with its overflowing greenery…
If you look closer, you can spot a colourful lizard crawling down the scallop, adding a fun touch!
Materials…
Select materials that align with your interior space and style. Transparent glass can create an elegant and timeless look. Introduce different shapes to create dynamism.
This brown ceramic vase brings a sense of grandeur to the room…
Alternatively, a ceramic will add texture and an additional layer of interest. We have recently launched our Tall Trees collection with Spode and this elegant range of tableware includes our square ceramic vase. Explore the Tall Trees Spode collection at Shop Kit Kemp.
Focal points…
Think of vases as a way to create a focal point in a room. In Covent Garden Hotel’s Lyric Room, we placed the vase in the centre of the room which creates a bold statement, leading your eye to a collection of artworks.
To help dress this console we created a symmetrical display, going large with scale using greenery in the centre vase. The vases immediately transform this otherwise forgotten corner.
Play with height…
One of the most important points when styling with vases is to play with different heights. Even if you are using the same material or colour like we did in this room, make sure you incorporate a variety of heights. A combination of different heights and sizes will make the vases look like an art composition themselves!
Grouping…
Group vases of the same texture and colour to create a dramatic statement. Here we have incorporated candles for a romantic and moody atmosphere.
Make your own!
Our Design Thread reader Sue, recently shared with us her very own vase creation. This beautiful work was inspired by our sea creature lamp at Ham Yard Hotel. Remember to share your designs, crafts and creations with us on Instagram @KitKempDesignThread – we love to hear from you.
We hope you have enjoyed exploring different ways to incorporate vases. There isn’t a single right answer on how to use them, but stay aware of scale, texture and heights to truly succeed!
