Every year at the end of May, a little pocket of London explodes with flowers of every colour and variety, marking the start of summer.
Timed to coincide with Chelsea Flower Show, the streets and muses of Chelsea and Belgravia are decked out in their seasonal finery and filled to the brim with floral displays that everyone can enjoy.
We headed down to take a look at this year’s installations and thought we share a few of our favourites with you.
Belgravia in Bloom
Belgravia’s theme this year was ‘Into the Wild’ and we started off at the lovely Ecceleston Yards. Here they had an installation called Eccleston Explorers by florist Moyses Stevens.
Moyses Stevens also created these friendly Bamboo Bears.
This majestic lion was guarding the entrance to the Langley’s showroom.
We loved this beautiful installation outside Les Centeur on Elisabeth Street.
Our friend Chelsea Textiles also decorated the windows in their new showroom. Woodland-themed set-up can be appreciated from the inside as well works brilliantly with a wing chair upholstered in whimsical Toile de Joie by one of our favourite artists Ramiro Fernandez Saus.
Flowers were cleverly used to create an array of wonderful creatures, from moneys, snakes and parrots to this jazzy giraffe with his mane of flowers.
Edward Bulmer’s window had a variety of young plants on display, with each pot painted in colours from their paint range.
The Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland also made an appearance…
As did Willy Wonka and, of course, the famous BAFTA mask.
Chelsea in BloomÂ
This year’s Chelsea in Bloom theme is ‘Flowers on Film’ with the brief encouraging contestants to take inspiration for their exhibits from well-known characters and storylines from films, as well as paying homage to cinematic awards.
We loved this delightful Mary Poppins installation with its carousel and Mary with her umbrella up, just about to fly away.
An iconic moment from The Lion King was recreated with dried grasses. We loved the wilder elements of this display.
Outside the Ivy, the animal theme continued and Mr Toad, Mole and Mr Badger from The Wind in the Willows could be spotted amongst some lovely foliage and flowers!
Belgravia in Bloom is on from the 22nd – 29th May and Chelsea in Boom is on from the 22nd – 28th May.
We thought this lion sitting outside Sinclair and Till’s showroom on Pimlico Road had huge amounts of personality!
