February brings the arrival of Valentine’s Day. This year, why not do something a bit different for the people you love. Forget the chocolates, red roses and cards, this week we’re sharing our ideas on how to break the rules and celebrate love however, and with whomever, you like.
L is for… Luxury
Is there anything more indulgent than an afternoon in the spa? Be it for a massage, facial or manicure, Ham Yard Hotel’s Soholistic Spa has it all. This one is great for Mum, your best friend, or even some self love – it’s the perfect opportunity to give yourself that much deserved TLC.

V… is for our very, very extraordinary Croc bowling alley!
The Croc at Ham Yard Hotel is home to an original 1950’s bowling alley, stylish lounge, bar and dance floor. Imported from Texas and manufactured by the iconic Brunswick Company, the monochrome bowling ball returns include original features such as hand warmers and visible return runs. The solid maple bowling lanes have been specially commissioned, making it one of only a few of its kind in the UK.
Back-lit bowling balls, vintage bowling shoes and bowling pin lamps sit alongside two large scale Howard Hodgkin artworks. The silver baby grand piano and sofas upholstered in a South African made fabric add to the interior’s spirited feel, along with the suspended brick wall with flickering lights at the end of the bowling lanes. This is truly a one of a kind experience and worth booking in advance.
O… is for the only one I see
Our passion for art can be seen in all of our hotels and our art walks are a great way to be inspired. We guide you through how to collect and successfully hang art, making your living space fun and interesting.
Following our popular art walks at Ham Yard Hotel and Haymarket Hotel, this year sees the launch of our art walks at Charlotte Street Hotel. Here you will be guided through Kit’s personally curated collection of original Bloomsbury art work before embarking on a walking tour of some of Fitzrovia’s most exciting galleries. The tour will end back at Charlotte Street Hotel where you can enjoy a delicious three-course lunch or afternoon tea.
This is a wonderful way to spend the afternoon with your best friend or art loving relative. Perhaps it will even inspire you to start building your own collection. We share some tips on how to start an art collection here.
E… is eating with the one you adore
