Headboards have always been a favourite feature of mine to create a statement in a room. A fun trick is to create a completely bespoke headboard, inspired by a complementary fabric in the scheme.
In Room 1101 at Crosby Street Hotel, we started with ‘Tasha’s Trip’ on the curtains, one of my fabrics from my latest collection with Christopher Farr Cloth.
We created a bespoke beaded collage design on boiled wool for the headboard. The careful stitch-work and detailed floral designs are such a beautiful addition to the room.
On this design, it is all about playing with texture and creating a congruent thread throughout the room to make a bold statement.
The pomegranates dance over the Flora shape headboard that sits just next to the curtains creating a variation in texture and in scale.
Wools always work well when creating a bespoke headboard; the fabric creates a luxurious and cosy feel with durability for the cut-outs.
In room 901, also at Crosby Street Hotel, I used the beautiful ‘Malati’ textile by William Yeoward as a starting point to create a fun and bold pomegranate motif.
