Citrus Season: Decorating with Zesty Shades

It’s that zesty time of year with the sun shining and fruity spritzes flowing; summer is finally here! When it comes to designing your spaces, one of the most effective ways to create a lively and refreshing atmosphere is by incorporating a citrus palette. Vibrant hues inspired by oranges, lemons, and limes can transform any room into a cheerful and uplifting space.

In London, where grey skies are not uncommon, infusing outdoor spaces with vibrant citrus fabrics are a brilliant way to instantly bring a burst of energy and vitality, creating a refreshing oasis amidst the urban landscape.

Walls and joinery are also an excellent canvas for these sunny hues.  Dare to be bold with a shade of tangy tangerine which will instantly brighten a space and and create an atmosphere of energy, warmth and comfort.

We love infusing our spaces with fruity punches and this this Jim Thompson fabric is particularly zesty.  We used it across the headboard and cushions it in one of our Terrace Suites at Ham Yard Hotel and paired it with a rich shade of yellow – it makes us feel like we’re on holiday in Sicily!

Our new ‘Calypso’ collection, designed in collaboration with Spode, is inspired by the charisma and spirit of Barbados. We worked endlessly to perfect the colour palette to capture that zesty lemon yellow, ocean blue and punchy pink so that it would infuse Caribbean cheer into any morning ritual or summer tea party. It will be available to buy from Shop Kit Kemp later this year, so keep an eye out for updates!

We hope these ideas have inspired you to bring a burst of citrus into your own projects!
