Chelsea In Bloom

Chelsea In Bloom is a prestigious annual floral art show and London’s largest free to attend festival of flowers. The floral art show and competition is back after a couple of years. Transforming the streets of Chelsea from 23rd to 28th May, the show brings incredible flower displays for everyone to enjoy.

In celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, this year’s theme is ‘British Icons’ and draws inspiration from renowned characters, symbols and emblems throughout the United Kingdom.

There are exciting floral installations across Chelsea which highlight the talent in the fields of fashion, art, design, music, food and literature. Each of them reflects a unique interpretation of the theme. The competition has grown each year with the best retailers, restaurants and hotels adorning themselves with creativity to compete. You can vote for your favourite display here. These are some of our favourites…

If these incredible displays have inspired you to make arrangements of your own (on a more practical scale), visit one of our Bloomsbury Flowers’ Workshops at Charlotte Street Hotel. These workshops will give you a guided demonstration on how to craft the perfect arrangement for your home and is followed by a Champagne brunch at Oscar Bar & Restaurant.

Bloomsbury Flowers was set up in 1994 by Mark Welford and Stephen Wicks. They have supplied flowers to Firmdale Hotels for over 20 years, becoming synonymous with creating beautiful, seasonal arrangements with a stylish twist. To visit our ‘Meet The Maker’ blog with Mark and Stephen, click here.

In honour of the occasion our chefs have created Chelsea Flower Show Afternoon Tea menus at our London hotels. Discover delicious savoury tarts, pastries and tea sandwiches as well as sweet treats like gooseberry and chamomile cheesecakes.

If you can’t visit Chelsea and see these stunning displays for yourself, you can always celebrate the joy of flowers at home. Take a look at Flowers: Our Styling Handbook, which focuses on the art of flower arranging and how to make them stand out whilst perfectly blending into your space. Power to the flower!
