The Potting Shed’s Cheese Dinners

One British quirk we love to celebrate is National Cheese Day, marked on June 4, 2024. What better way to celebrate than with a cheese dinner? Join us on today’s blog as we explore our two Cheese Dinners at The Potting Shed at Dorset Square Hotel.

For the first Cheese Dinner we’re heading to the verdant meadows. Where the evening features a carefully curated selection of cheeses paired with wines. The cows and sheep that provide the high-quality milk for these cheeses graze on lush grass meadows, rich with wildflowers and diverse ecosystems, resulting in some of the most flavourful cheeses available.

Our ‘Master of Cheeses’, Eric Charriaux from Aubrey Allen, has selected six summer-flavoured, mouth-watering cheeses which he will present and guide you through during the dinner.

Our fantastic Executive Head Chef, Joe Fox, will pay homage to the evening’s theme, starting with canapés and an aperitivo, followed by a three-course meal that includes flowers and herbs reminiscent of a lush green meadow. Expect nettle and blue cheese croquettes, roast lamb rump with slow-cooked white beans, paired with nasturtium and wild garlic pesto, and a dessert of elderflower posset with honey and poached gooseberries.

If this sounds too good to miss, we have an alternative date on September 17, with an ‘In the Forest’ theme, celebrating rich and autumnal flavours. For the cheeses you’ll be tasting, Eric has chosen selections produced on farms and dairies nestled near forests and woodlands. Try Mayfield, a semi-soft cow’s cheese with a touch of sweetness from Ashdown Forest in Sussex, and Dazel Ash, a goat’s cheese with light acidity from the New Forest in Hampshire. Discover more and book your tickets here.

We can’t wait for you to celebrate everything cheese with us at one of our favourite, flavourful Firmdale events.
