Apartment 22 at Ham Yard Hotel Into the Blue

Perched on the top two floors of One Denman Place, Ham Yard Hotel’s adjoining residencies, is Apartment 22. The entrance is located in the hotel’s tree-lined courtyard in the heart of Soho.

Upon entering this three bedroom apartment, you are embraced by joyful and lively blues, which set the tone for a journey into the blue yonder.

There are two bedrooms on the lower floor, both of which tell a different story. The first bedroom has a sense of energy and movement, with a bold William Yeoward headboard and signature mannequin in turquoise blues and Basque reds. The walls are lined in a Café Tapet stripe of delicate dots.

The curtains are beautifully embroidered in a subtle yet contrasting multi-coloured stripe by GP & J Baker. These varying scales but parallel styles work well in tandem. The Jacko fabric on the cushions in a diamond pattern by Lewis and Wood creates an element of fun and the unexpected.

The adjacent bedroom is swimmingly blue, with fabric upholstered walls which create a sense of calm. The headboard is covered in a new James Malone linen, a zig-zag pattern which runs horizontally like waves crashing on to a beach in the distance.

On the cushions, the summery citrus fruit bring a touch of zing to the room…you can almost smell the zest!

Up a flight of stairs, you emerge into a light and airy open plan space, with floor to ceiling dual aspect Critall windows and beautiful oak floors.

To tie the space together we have used a scheme of soothing blues and warming reds. An antique dining table with a hanging pendant light above is surrounded by our handle chairs lined in my ‘Loom Weave’ fabric in the hot pink colourway. Behind the table is a large framed antique textile, beside a wing chair in my ‘Ozone’ design for Christopher Farr Cloth.

In the drawing room, a sophisticated fireplace draws everyone together. It is surrounded by windows with double French doors out to the terrace. The Fine Cell Work cushions on the armchairs add a small whimsical detail.

Nestled between the drawing room and the kitchen is a quaint study nook. We changed the walling from a plain to a pattern to differentiate the snug space.

We added a crisp white bookcase in front of the patterned walling to add a freshness to the corner. The bookshelves are brimming with interesting books to inspire while you sit at the dainty white desk.

The bedroom on this upper floor is a continuation of the blue colour scheme with my ‘Psycho Sprig’ fabric for Andrew Martin taking centre stage.

We have used this design on the curtains and cushions, paired with block colours for the valance and headboard. The headboard was a special Design Team project, customised with an applique of wools in an enlarged and deconstructed ‘Psycho Sprig’ inspired design.

In this apartment, blue is anything but cold. The varying shades of blue bring a harmony and calm to our guests. Warming red and orange accents add comfort like a spectacular sunset setting on the ocean. Whether you’re staying for the long or short haul, we hope you enjoy it!
