Take A Dip

One of our favourite places to sit back and relax is on the lower ground floor of this landmark building – designed by the legendary John Nash – by the swimming pool. This is the one space where you can go from a water-based workout in the morning to dinner and dancing in the evening.

To be honest with you, the pool area is more bar than spa! This enormous space is all about the sleek 55-foot swimming pool which is edged in stone, surrounded by acres of grey oak and has a ceiling covered in hundreds of twinkling, fibre-optic lights.

There is a large sound system, a pewter topped bar and a spectacular lighting scheme that uses strong contrasts of light and shadow and an ever-changing colourful light installation by Martin Richman.

We are always mesmerised by the intensity of the coloured bands and blocks shifting and transforming the pool space, with the rippling water breaking the solid colours into flowing fragments of interwoven light and colour. It really does make this pool even more alluring and a wonderful talking point at dinner parties.

This grand and modern space can be used for a variety of events. The pool can be half covered or fully covered by an elegant oak decking which creates a fabulous dance floor.

When the pool is open it can be customised with beautiful floating candles, fun floating orbs or even a stage for a dazzling performer.

The pool and spa are available to use at our guest’s leisure, but if you’re looking for more of a lean mean exercise machine than a gentle paddle, why not try our revolutionary FloatFit HIIT classes with water based fitness experts, Aquaphysical. Following the 30 minute session, guests will be treated to a Recovery Brunch in Brumus Restaurant with delicious dishes including, sweetcorn chilli fritters with poached eggs, avocado, tomato and lime salsa and freshly baked waffles with bananas, berries and maple syrup.

No stranger to a good party or two, this large room at the heart of Haymarket Hotel is a space that takes on a life of its own. If walls could whisper, it would surely have some secrets to tell from years gone by.

We hope you’ll stop by for a swim next time you’re staying at Haymarket Hotel, or perhaps we’ll see you by the bar at our next soirée!
